Self Portraits

Sunday, June 17, 2007

We're having a photography challenge on Craft at the moment and the aim is that we all take self portraits and share, mainly because it helps people put names to faces and secondly because it's quite a challenging thing to do with your camera.

I did two today, both with my 50mm lens which isn't the easiest as if you hold it above yourself at the most flattering photography angle you find you can't get your whole self in, not to worry too much though as I quite enjoy taking bits of me rather than the whole me. Oh and I'm going to get my eyebrows waxed tommorrow hopefully, I waxed with photoshop here and I definitely think I need to do it no matter how painful the thought of it is!!

To be honest it's only my eyebrows so I can't see that it would hurt too much I mean after all it's not exactly a large area, I might be more concerned if it was other places I was attempting to wax and anyway after having 3 children it can't be too bad now can it?!

Paul has been out working all day today even though it was fathers day, thats him though, dedicated to the cause and it kind of made up for the deluges we've had during the week.

I went and delivered a coulple of hundred of his leaflets and my busines s cards today so hopefully I might get some business from them.

Oh and 1 final thing, notice my new funky hairstyle, I love it now that it's had a couple of days to settle :D

Just some Random fun!

So it's darkest December and the weather isn't perfect for photography. Indoor photography without flash is not at it's best, still I tried to take just a few photos today and I thought I would share them as really it's a bit of a blogging lull as well, no doubt next week i can regail you with tales of my fabulous (or disasterous Christmas) but for this week dear reader nothing really is going on in my jam packed life!!

Todays photos are firstly my fabourite fish, I'm not a fish fan but you can't really escape them when your husband has 3 4 foot fish tanks, this fish Severum Ballesterios as I call him really does have personality, when I speak to him he comes over to listen and when I ask him if I can take his photo not only does he sign the release form but he stays in one place for long enough, the same cannot be said for our Oscar or T-Bar Cichlids, fi you want to see piccies of them you'll have to wait till a day when I have more time and patience or scroll back a wee while on hubbies blog, I think he has a few.

We also have today a photo of looby playing hide and seek, sadly her hiding place (behind the apple) was not the most sneaky of places to hide and it really didn't take too much time to find her!

Lastly for today, it's me, yes my festive visit to my own blog so that in 60 years I can remember just how young, gorgeous and glamourous and if you know me all very well dear readers you'll know that last bit was firmly with my tongue in my proverbial cheek!!

I laugh in the face of adversity!!

Yes it's been 2 years since my agoraphobia was at it's worst and 2 years since I had my haircut until today that was!! I finally went and had 10 inches chopped off, now you can't see it too well in my speedy self portrait but OOh it's so smooth and sleek and finally you can see my hair and not just a bunch of split ends!! My hubby said afterwards that he loves my sexy new style and it was a little manky but he was too scared to say, Manky?????, what kind of a word is that!! LOL Thats men for you!!

Anyway I've had another uber busy day and this is about the only photo I have taken. mostly I have been begging for grants to start my business and i'm not getting anywhere fast but I'm not giving up!!

Tommorrow i have a plethora of people coming to be photographed, they're all kind enough to model for me so I'm doing it free for use in my portfolio, hopefully the more variety the better. Of course I'm really hoping that they'll go away and tell their friends etc and soon i'll be able to get my business properly up and running!
