Alnmouth, a sunny walking afternoon on the Northumbrian Coast

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Yesterday afternoon after a lovely photo shoot hubby and I decided to get away from it all for a few hours, it's no secret that I love going up the Northumbrian Coastal Route, it's a gorgeous road which goes through Amble, Warkworth, Alnmouth and Seahouses finally ending at Berwick, there are so many places to stop, nature reserves, beautiful villages and gorgeous sandy beaches, I'd probably say the most beautiful beaches in the country but then I am a little biased!

We drove up to Alnmouth a quaint little seaside village where I'd spent many a happy summers day at the beach as a child.  When you approach Alnmouth from the south you look over the Estuary and see the houses with their pretty painted exteriors, not unlike the coloured houses of Tobermory.

and so a 3K walk along the estuary and beach, here's our afternoon in photographs

yeah someone got wet shorts!

we spent 3 hours just wandering and taking photos and it was bliss, I feel like I had a mini holiday, if you're on the north east coast sometime soon why not get away from it all just for a little while and enjoy Alnmouth!

The Wedding of Joanne and Nick, Otterburn Hall, Northumberland

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

So you remember a couple of weeks ago when we all got super excited because it was the start of the Olympics? Well the day after we all crowded onto the sofa to watch the Opening Ceremony I went off to shoot the wedding of Joanne and Nick, we started the day at St Johns Church in Whorlton, Westerhope, a beautiful old church with a simply lovely female vicar who was only too happy to give me a prime view of Joanne and Nick during the service, I'm so pleased because it meant I got some truly wonderful shots of them.

It was so lovely to see Stuart and Kate who's wedding I shot at Matfen Hall in December 2007

I really love this one, I like that if you look at the reflections you can see the bridesmaids waiting to meet Joanne who looked simply stunning, her dress is one of the most beautiful i've ever seen, I love all of the vintage lace detailing.

After the ceremony and a few group shots we went up to the reception venue, Otterburn Hall in Northumberland, if you are due to get married there soon or you're thinking of planning your wedding at this venue please read the note at the bottom of this blog post

It was a beautiful wonderful day, Joanne and Nick may I wish you many happy years of marriage together and thank you for letting me document your special day.

This morning sad news reached me that Otterburn Hall had suddenly closed without warning on Monday, I would advise any brides to read this Journal article or contact the hotel directly to find out what is going on
