Stress, Christmas and IBS

I have IBS, I've had it most of my life and when I was in my late teens I had to take a year off work because it was so bad, at that point everything was setting it off, food, stress, alcohol, you name it my life was a miserable and something needed to change.  It turned out of course that I hated that job at the bank, I mean, me, working in a bank, that's the most insane thing I've ever heard!

Fast forward to how life is now and I've got the dietary factors right down, when I stay away from white flour and processed foods and I mostly live a life without the horrible IBS cramps, not to mention the other horrific side effects that happen when you have IBS.

Stress, though, well you can't really alleviate stress from your life when you are a single parent trying to run a business and over the last couple of years there have been days where the pain in my stomach was as bad as the pain in my heart.

I can't really explain the pain of spasms in your colon, and yes, lets just get this out there, there aren't enough people out there talking about IBS because if you talk about IBS then you have to mention bowels and if you have to mention that then you have to mention poo and lets face it ladies and gents, we're British and we hide away from that.

Buscopan got in contact with me to see if I would talk about IBS and the effects of stress, they realise that one of the keys to living with IBS is to try not to get stressed and they sent me a lovely relaxation hamper for those moments when life seems to get a little too much, is it just me who appreciates the fact that adults can take a moment to colour in without guilt now?!

Buscopan IBS Relief works differently to painkillers as it has an antispasmodic action that specifically targets the root cause of abdominal pain to quickly help the muscle of the bowel return to normal. It starts to work within 15 minutes, acting directly on the muscle spasm in the bowel too quickly and effectively relieve the painful cramps and discomfort of IBS. Buscopan IBS Relief is gentle on the stomach and can be used at the first sign of flare-up as needed. Buscopan IBS Relief is priced at £4.99 for 20 tablets and £8.34 for 40 tablets. Buscopan IBS Relief contains hyoscine butylbromide. For medically confirmed IBS. Always read the label.

So this Christmas if you have IBS, try to relax as much as possible, I know how stressful it is to spend time with families and if you like me don't have one, well I know how that can also be stressful too.  The one thing I refuse to do is give up feeling excited about things and me+excitement= IBS and that's when having Buscopan in the cupboard comes in really handy.

This is a collaborative post with Buscopan but all words are my own and I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 20 years old.
